Betsy is from
Berkeley, and grew up gigging with her dad, a pianist and
composer. He passed onto her a huge repertoire and a deep
love of sharing music with others - musicians and audiences
alike. She started playing music and singing at a very
young age and studied several instruments and voice. Her
main instruments are upright bass and guitar, and she still
sings. In addition to working as a soloist, she also plays
in the Bay Area with Big Roy's Band, the Smith/Stern Duo,
Kitsch 'N Sync, the Walter Pope Trio, as a side-person with
other groups, and as a studio musician. Additionally, she
tours nationally with a solo program to introduce kids to
Jazz, Blues, and other styles of music, and does some
private teaching. She is very excited about her new group,
Betsy and the Frenchman, with dobroist Pierre
Bastide.
